Privacy — Transcribe

Last updated: 30 July 2026

Transcribe is part of Meta-Me. The Meta-Me privacy policy is the main document — it covers your account data, why we process it, how long we keep it, who our subprocessors are, and how to exercise your rights. It applies here in full. This page only adds what Transcribe itself stores.

1. What Transcribe stores

  • Audio you upload or record, kept as a file on our server along with its format, size and duration.
  • Transcripts produced from that audio, and any documents you write or edit yourself.
  • Audio we synthesise from your text, plus the voice setting you chose.

2. Recordings of other people

Audio you upload may contain the voices of people who are not Meta-Me users, and a recording of someone's voice is their personal data. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to record and upload it — in most cases that means telling them and getting their agreement first. We process it only to produce your transcript. We do not use it to identify or profile anyone, and we do not use it to train models.

3. AI processing

Transcription and speech synthesis are performed by Google Gemini, which means your audio and text are sent to Google to be processed. Gemini API requests are excluded from model training under Google's terms. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at meta-me.uk/settings/privacy — though withdrawing it means transcription and synthesis stop working.

4. Retention and deletion

Documents, transcripts and audio files are kept for as long as your account exists. Deleting a document from within the app removes it and its associated audio. Deleting your Meta-Me account removes everything Transcribe holds for you, including the stored audio files.

If you only want the source audio gone but wish to keep the transcript, delete the audio from the document and the transcript remains.

5. Your rights

Access, correction, export, erasure and the rest are handled centrally — see meta-me.uk/settings/privacy or email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the ICO.
